Color Correcting 101

Color correcting can be confusing at times. There’s so many colors that it can be frustrating to know what color goes where. This blog is here to help you and guide you to the world of color correcting. Seat back and enjoy!

The four basic colors when it comes to color correct are: green, yellow, orange, and purple.

Green Concealers:

This color helps neutralizes the color red. This color is great to apply when u have any redness on your face. Use a green based spot concealer to remove redness like an annoying zit, or any acne scars. If you have rosacea, windburn or sunburn, then a color correcting green primer will be best to significantly reduce redness and give an even toned base for flawless foundation application.

Yellow Concealers:

The purpose of yellow concealers is to hide purple or blue bruises, veins, and under eye circles. This color is typically great for evening out skin tone and to give a brighter appearance to your skin. Depending on your skin tone, they can also be a perfect as an eye shadow base if you don’t have an eye primer for your eye shadow.

Orange Concealers:

This orange color concealer is perfect for people with darker skin tones looking to hide dark circles or other spots with deep discoloration. For lighter skin tones, orange concealer can help out with dark circles underneath your eyes and for a light contouring as a liquid bronzer.

Purple Concealer:

As you probably guessed, purple is directly across from yellow on the color wheel. To remove yellow tones from your entire face, consider a color correcting purple primer. People with a pasty, dull, yellow complexion will love how a purple concealer or primer adds a beautiful glow to their face. 

Makeup Dupes Part 2

In this part 2 post, we are going to look at two more dupes that Iv'e come a crossed with. 

Bronzers 

Benefit Hoola Bronzer $28 and NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder in Sunny $2.99 

Bronzers can be tricky to buy when you want a nice cool tone brown then a warm orange brown. The Benefit Hoola Bronzer does a nice good of being matte, cool tone brown and can do a light contour on your face. The NYC bronzer is a close dupe to the Hoola Bronzer. The only thing, this specific bronzer is a little hard to find. You have to keep your eye out for it, it’s so popular! 

Face Powder 

MAC Studio Fix Powder $27 and NYX Stay Matte Not Flat Powder Foundation $9.99 

Mac Studio Fix Powder is a gorgeous powder foundation, and it works great as a setting powder. The NYX Stay Matte but not Flat is a good dupe from the drug store because it goes on and feels almost identical to the MAC Studio Fix Powder. They both stay matte on the face and the stay on power is about the same.

Makeup Dupes Part 1

          Makeup at Sephora and Ulta can be real pricey and makeup at the drug store are hit and misses. Sometimes you can find those holy grail items at the drug store and sometimes it’s a different story. Makeup dupes are some of my favorite things to discover. It can be addicting and very exciting! Here are some makeup dupes that you can save some money on.

Champagne Eyeshadow

Stila eyeshadow in Kitten $18 and L’Oréal infallible eyeshadow in iced latte $7.99

Stila’s kitten is one of the most popular eyeshadows around, and I can see why – it’s absolutely gorgeous and universally flattering! However, the price if not so flattering. At the drugstore, there is a dupe that is at a better price. It’s the L’Oréal Infallible Eyeshadow in Iced Latte. The consistency is more like a pressed pigment, and performs best when applied with a finger.

Setting Spray’s

 

MAC Fix + $22 and E.L.F. Makeup Mist & Set $3

Makeup setting sprays are really good when you want to set your makeup and want your makeup to stay in place all day. MAC Fix + spray is a really great for multiple uses such as priming the face, to intensify an eyeshadow, or setting your makeup. With E.L.F. Makeup Mist and Set, it can do these same things for only $3!! Setting spray’s is great for keeping you from looking too powdery without making you look too dewy. It’s very refreshing.

Liquid Highlighters

Benefit High Beam $26 and E.L.F. Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal $1

Benefit High Beam is a beautiful, stain-pink liquid highlighter. It looks gorgeous on the tops of cheeks and prefect for strobing. The E.L.F. Shimmering Facial whip is a great alternative for being ONE DOLLAR! The consistency of the E.L.F product is not 100% the same but for the price, you can’t bet it.

5 Makeup Brands that need some LOVE!

When it comes to buying makeup, most of us tend to shop for brands that we are familiar with. Either it be high end or drug store cosmetics. These 5 makeup brands are brands that don’t get enough love and attention for what they are worth. Some of these brands are just as good as high end cosmetics for fraction of the price.

ColourPop

ColourPop was started and is manufactured in the City of Angels (aka Los Angeles). With their unique eyeshadow colors, their quality feels and look luxurious. Their eyeshadows feel like a moose texture but also feel like a powder. It’s something that you have to feel for yourself. As the years gone by, ColourPop has branch out in: eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters, eyeliners, eyebrow pencils, liquid lippies, ultra-stain lippies, and lip liners. The great part of it all is the price! Their small items like eyeshadows, eye liners, lippies are $5 each and there blushes and highlighters $8 each! Morphe Brushes

By looking at the name of this brand, you would think that they only sell makeup brushes, right? (Will they don’t.) They sell eyeshadow palettes, face palettes, contour palettes, makeup brushes and so much more. If you are starting off in makeup or in free lancing, Morphe brushes is a good affordable company to get started with. Their eyeshadow palettes range from $12.99-$22.99. There are so many coupon codes that will save you 10% on your purchase. Some coupon codes are: YWP, MANNYMUA, JACKATTACK, etc. Some of the palettes are dupes for higher end makeup.

Girlactik cosmetics

This brand has one of the prettiest and cutest package. With selling faces products to liquid lipsticks, one of their best sellers is their matte lip pants. They are priced at $23 each. Now you may think that’s a lot for a lip product. But Girlactik gives you 7.5ml in each tube. (that’s more than double the product that most brands proved in their lip products!)

Makeup Geek

Makeup Geek is one of the best when it comes to the cosmetic industry. With their single eyeshadows priced at $6 each, that’s more than half the price you would get from MAC Cosmetics. Some of the shadows are good dupes for higher end makeup. Not only does Makeup Geek sell eyeshadows, but they sell foiled eyeshadows ($10 each), blushes ($10 each), contour shades ($10 each), Makeup geek z-palettes ($13) and their new addiction pencil eyeliners ($9 each).

B.H Cosmetics 

B.H Cosmetics is a brand that is real affordable. With having sales almost every day, you can’t bet the price. Some famous YouTube makeup gurus that have collaborated with are, Carli bell, Shaanox, Missy Lynn. There prices range from $5-$17.99

Ebay Finds VS Perfume Edition Part 2

          In this part 2 of this edition we are going to be talk about the Ebay finds of VS perfume "Scandalous". Before I purchased these perfumes, I went into the Victoria Secret store and took some picture of the display perfume that I wanted.

Display perfume at the store 

This perfume smells so good. the notes of this perfume are, Raspberry liqueur, Black peony and Praline. this type of perfume is very fruity/floral. If your not to big on these types of fragrance, this perfume would not be the best for you. This perfume is a prefect gift for a young girl or even a young woman.

          With high hopes, I purchased my perfume on Ebay for $29.99. (which is not bad considering that the bottle is 1.7fl oz and retails for $58). To my suprise I received the same perfume as the display perfume in store. It smelt the same, and the bottle was the same.I encourage you to purchase your perfumes online because they are half the price and they won't break the bank. Happy shopping!!
